Countdown: Less than 3 months!

Considering I started this blog to talk about the wedding, I should probably talk about the wedding! People keep asking me what my colors are or what kind of style I'm going for... I don't give very good descriptions, so I'll just show you instead. Think "Rustic Romantic"...    :)

Colors.

Groom & Groomsmen
Derek will be the only one with a suit jacket.

Lots of lace and burlap.

Guestbook idea.

This is actually our wedding ceremony and reception site. I took some pictures there this past winter, but it is a lot easier to envision our big day with the sun shining and the trees and grass so green!

There is a little preview for you! We'll see what our wedding ACTUALLY looks like in just a few short months. Yikes! Oh, and we had our engagement pictures taken a few days ago. As soon and she gives me the images I'll be sure and share them!  :)

So much to blog, so little time.

First off, I need to apologize... It is already JUNE and I haven't blogged since FEBRUARY! Sorrrrrry... Anyway, let's catch up!!!

I know most college kids indulge in alcohol, beaches, and bad decisions during spring break, but I'm apparently not a normal college kid. During my spring break, I flew down to South Carolina with my mom to visit my brother Tyler, his wife Helen, and their beautiful kids. We had a blast!

It was my first time flying. EVER! I had no idea what to expect... And as someone who isn't afraid of heights I didn't think flying would bother me. But I think the nerves of doing something for the first time, PLUS being so ecstatic to see my family got the best of me. I was SO nervous. Plus I didn't have a window seat, so I just had to imagine what might be going on! I think I held my breath the entire time we were taking off. And it happened to be quite windy that day! Let's just say every time the plane wiggled in the wind I tightened every muscle in my entire body! And I don't think I relaxed a muscle until we were smooth sailing far above the clouds! My mom found it to be pretty entertaining... (Aren't moms supposed to comfort you in times of fear?! Ha! Just kidding, mom.) The landing, however, was a piece of cake. We flew out from Indianapolis and landed in Atlanta. After a short wait we boarded another plane, with our final destination in Charleston, NC. That plane ride was much easier. And the two flights back home weren't bad at all either. Thank God it was nice weather for each flight, because I don't know if I could handle flying through a storm!

We stayed pretty busy while we were there. We took the kids to the zoo, went and played at Monkey Joe's, went to the movie theater and watched "The Lorax", played outside, rode bikes, read books, took naps, ate Krispy Kreme doughnuts, picked flowers, played at the park, went out to eat... But mostly we just enjoyed being together again. I'm glad they like living down there, but the selfish side of me wishes they were back in Illinois. I sure do miss them every single day!

Some of the most exciting news I have for you:  I have been out of school for an entire month! YAY! Five weeks ago I graduated from nursing school. And despite some of my classmates telling me that I was crazy, I decided to skip out on the actual graduation ceremony. To be honest I think they were crazy for wanting to sit through it! Plus, on Saturday, May 12 the nursing program held a "pinning" ceremony for nursing students only. I definitely attended that! Two years of blood, sweat, and tears for a little, stinkin' pin! (Okay... and a diploma!) And other than one of the speakers being a Debbie Downer and dragging her speech out for what seemed like HOURS, the ceremony was very nice.

Wearing my little, tiny pin that I worked so hard for!!!

Krista, Samantha, Julie, Me, Kim, and Belinda

Two best parts of my nursing pinning:
1.)  The cute little blondie telling me that she was proud of me.
2.)  The dark headed beauty surprising me all the way from South Carolina.

Enjoying Mexican food (and of course MARGARITAS!) after finals.

With Julie and Jessica. Miss you girls!

Game night with my nursing buds at Samantha's house!

For Memorial Day weekend we planned a family vacation in the great Ol' Smokies. At the last minute Michael found out he would have to stay back and work. And since he couldn't go Samantha decided she wouldn't go either. We missed them both, but the show had to go on. The cabin we stayed in was absolutely B-E-A-Utiful and Tennessee was fantastic! I personally think we should all just chip in and buy a cabin. There was PLENTY of room for all of us and that way we would always be together! Okay, so that probably won't ever happen. But it would be awesome if it did!

We spent our days eating southern food, swimming in the pool, taking naps, going the Ripley's Aquarium, sitting in the hot tub, riding go-carts, and hanging out around the cabin. We always have so much fun when we are together. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

I seriously don't have any excuses for the large time gaps between blogs. I'm only planning a wedding, job searching, working more hours at CVS, looking for apartments/houses to rent, reviewing for boards, etc. But really, I'm going to try and keep up with this stinkin' thing. Why did I decide to blog again?!  ;)
